Digital autonomy starts with the right to leave
We believe that true digital freedom includes the ability to delete your accounts, remove your data, and leave platforms on your own terms. Delete.Directory exists to make that right accessible to everyone.
Who We Are
The Delete.Directory Content Team is a group of privacy advocates, former social media employees, and digital rights researchers who have chosen to work anonymously to maintain independence and objectivity.
Our team includes individuals who have worked inside major tech platforms and understand how account systems, data retention, and deletion processes actually work. We use this insider knowledge to create accurate, comprehensive guides that empower users.
We remain anonymous not for secrecy, but for credibility. By not seeking personal recognition or building individual brands, we ensure that our focus remains entirely on creating the best possible resources for users who want to reclaim their digital autonomy.
Our Core Values
Independent
We have no affiliations with platforms, no advertising relationships, and no financial incentives beyond creating honest, user-focused guides.
Transparent
Every guide includes verification dates, testing methodology, and links to official sources. We show our work and update content regularly.
Respectful
We respect your reasons for leaving platforms. No judgment, no persuasion - just clear information to help you make informed decisions.
What We Do
We create and maintain comprehensive account deletion guides through hands-on testing. For every platform we cover:
- ✓We create test accounts and follow the deletion process step-by-step
- ✓We verify all official documentation and help center URLs are current
- ✓We document warnings, grace periods, and potential data loss
- ✓We test on multiple devices and interfaces (desktop, mobile, app)
- ✓We update guides regularly as platforms change their processes
Every guide is reviewed monthly to ensure accuracy. When platforms update their deletion processes, we update our guides within 72 hours.
Why Delete.Directory Exists
Platforms make it easy to sign up but deliberately complex to leave. Deletion options are buried deep in settings, documentation is scattered, and warnings are designed to discourage action.
We believe this is fundamentally unfair. If you can create an account in 60 seconds, you should be able to understand how to delete it in the same amount of time.
Delete.Directory exists to level the playing field - to make account deletion as simple and transparent as account creation should be.
